Best WoW Forever Addons: Every Addon Rated From 1 to 5

Playing Without Addons Is Perfectly Fine

Forever was built around the journey. Blizzard says the trip matters as much as the destination, and that is easy to feel when nothing sits on top of your screen. You read the quest text, explore, get a little lost, ask someone for directions, and the world feels bigger for it. That is the natural way the original game was meant to be played, and it stays just as immersive today.

The game also comes with more help than the old version did. Quest tracking is better than in the original game. A damage meter, a cooldown tracker and an interface editor are already built in. So if you would rather skip addons, you are not missing anything you need.

Addons are comforts and shortcuts. Some people love them, and some find the game more fun without them. Both ways are good. Pick a few if they sound fun, and ignore the rest.

How We Rate Each Addon

RatingWhat It Means
1 out of 5Just for fun
2 out of 5A nice extra
3 out of 5Handy
4 out of 5A great pick
5 out of 5Our top pick

No addon is required. These ratings are our own opinion, and they only show how much a typical player might enjoy each one.

Why Forever Addons Work Differently

Forever shares the modern game’s interface code. Blizzard has said the addon limits added in Midnight also apply in Forever. In combat, names and numbers reach addons as “secret values”. The game can show them, but an addon cannot add them up or compare them.

  • Combat log addons stay empty. Meters now read the game’s own meter data.
  • A Classic file will show as out of date and be skipped.
  • Tools that map, sort, track and plan work well. Tools that automate combat do not.

1. Questie

Why use it: It puts quest givers, objectives and turn-ins on your map and minimap. You stop opening the quest log to work out where to go next.

Rating: 5 out of 5. Our top pick for leveling.

  • Forever version: Yes. Get the Forever file from the official page.
  • Best for: Anyone who wants help finding quest spots.
  • Watch out: Data for the new Forever quests is still filling in. If a pin and the quest text disagree, trust the quest text.

2. Spoken (Our Favorite <3)

Why use it: It gives your quest givers a voice. NPCs speak their quest text and gossip, zones tell their stories as you explore, and books read themselves aloud. It turns a wall of quest text into something you can listen to while you run.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick if you love story and mood. Closer to 2 out of 5 if you prefer to read.

  • Forever version: Yes. It is built for WoW Forever and Classic.
  • Easy setup: Install the English bundle and your addon manager fetches the addon and every English voice pack. Other languages have their own bundles, including French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese.
  • Watch out: The voices are AI-generated, and the addon is unofficial. The audio is a large download. New Forever quests and books may not have voice at first, and the book pack is still missing new books.
  • Prefer no big download? Forever TTS reads quests with your system’s own text-to-speech voice and needs no voice packs.

3. RestedXP

Why use it: It draws a route for you and puts an arrow on screen, so you never wonder which quest comes next.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick if you want a set route and a fast level 60.

  • Cost: The addon is free, and the first 20 levels are free. The full guide costs $30 for one faction or $45 for both. (We are not affiliated with RestedXP)
  • Forever routes: Levels 1 to 35 are done. Levels 35 to 60 come after launch, and the older Classic routes cover that range until then.
  • Watch out: The paid routes need your Battle.net account linked and an import string. Installing the addon alone does not unlock them. Many players find a route takes some of the wonder out, so decide what kind of leveling you want.

4. OneForAll

Why use it: It puts gear and loot lookup, dungeon maps, profession recipes, reputation, library books and a talent planner in one window.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick.

  • Forever version: Yes, built for 1.60.1.
  • Best for: New characters who want to know where each upgrade comes from.
  • Watch out: It does a lot, so check its options before adding separate addons for the same jobs. It is not a quest tracker.

5. What’s Training?

Why use it: It adds a tab to your spellbook that shows every spell your class can learn, with the trainer price. You only walk to the trainer when a lesson is worth the trip.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick, because Forever has long journeys.

  • Forever version: Yes. This is a separate Forever edition.
  • Best for: Anyone short on gold who wants to skip pointless trainer visits.
  • Watch out: In the beta, ignored spells reset each session because of a client bug.

6. Forever Loot Sparkles

Why use it: It adds a sparkle to quest objectives, chests and gathering nodes, so you stop running past the item you need.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy, especially on a bright or busy screen.

  • Best for: Players with weaker eyesight or crowded zones.
  • Watch out: Blizzard may add a similar accessibility option someday.

7. Forever Quest Tint

Why use it: Over 1,000 quests are new in Forever. This addon tints the quest window teal when a quest was not in the original game.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A nice extra for veterans.

  • Commands: /fqt opens the options. /fqt id shows the quest ID.
  • Watch out: It works from a list of original quest IDs. A few real vanilla quests may show teal by mistake.

8. Master Dialog

Why use it: It widens the quest window and keeps text easy to read. You change everything from the window itself, so there is no settings page.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A comfort pick.

  • Forever version: Yes. The same addon also works on modern WoW.
  • Watch out: It is made for the default interface. A full UI replacement can clash with it.

9. MapUtils

Why use it: It adds boats, zeppelins, trams, flight points and dungeon entrances to the world map. It also lets you move and resize the map.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy on long trips.

  • Best for: Players who keep taking the wrong boat.
  • Watch out: Some of its info overlaps with bigger all-in-one addons. Compare before you keep both.

10. Leatrix Maps

Why use it: It shows your coordinates, adds dungeon icons, and can reveal parts of a zone you have not explored.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy.

  • Command: /ltm opens the options.
  • Best for: Explorers and anyone who follows coordinates.
  • Watch out: Every setting is optional, so switch on only what you want.

11. TomTom

Why use it: It points an arrow at any spot you give it. Type /way followed by two numbers, for example /way 45.2 60.1.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy when you follow written directions.

  • Best for: Players who use coordinates from a written route.

12. Books on Map Forever

Why use it: Forever adds collectible library books. This addon marks 38 known book spots on the map and tracks which ones you have.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A collector’s tool.

  • Best for: Players who want to finish each zone.
  • Watch out: It cannot show books that have not been found yet.

13. Skyborne Leyline and Convergence Marker

Why use it: Skyborne characters have special spots in the world tied to their racial benefit. This addon puts known spots on the zone map.

Rating: 4 out of 5 if you play a Skyborne. 1 out of 5 if you do not.

  • Best for: Skyborne players only.
  • Optional: It can share new finds with other players, or you can keep a self-found mode.

14. Layer Swap

Why use it: Busy launch zones are split into layers. This addon shows your layer and asks for a swap with one click, using normal group invites. It never leaves a group without your click.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy when a quest zone is packed.

  • Cost: Free.
  • Watch out: It needs other players running the same addon to host swaps. Several similar addons exist, so install only one.
  • Good to know: Blizzard now shows a warning when a layer change is about to happen. We found no official rule on layer addons.

15. GearQuest Forever

Why use it: Right-click any gear slot to see the best upgrades for your class, spec and level from 1 to 60, plus where they come from.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy for leveling.

  • Watch out: The author calls it a heavy addon, because the list updates each time you level. Data can be incomplete, since Blizzard blocked data mining of some gear effects.

16. Loot Triage

Why use it: When your bags are full, it shows which loot is worth taking and which items to delete.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy while leveling.

  • Best for: Players who hate bag management.
  • Watch out: Check the Files tab and pick a Forever file.

17. AtlasLoot Forever

Why use it: It lists what drops from dungeons and raids, so you can pick a dungeon by the gear you want.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy for dungeon runs.

  • Watch out: It shows items players have already seen. Tables for new dungeons fill in over launch week.

18. Dungeon Journal

Why use it: It previews dungeon quests, rewards and boss drops before you go in.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy if you plan your dungeon trips.

  • Watch out: Choose the file marked Forever, not Retail or Classic.

19. Forever Threat

Why use it: It shows a threat window for your current target, with bars, an aggro holder and a warning when you near the top.

Rating: 4 out of 5 for tanks. 2 out of 5 for everyone else.

  • Commands: /threat shows the window. /threat test lets you place it with sample bars.
  • Watch out: It cannot see every enemy’s full threat table. Treat it as a guide, not a promise.

20. Forever Meter

Why use it: It shows damage, healing, damage taken and threat. It reads the game’s own meter, so it keeps working when other meters go blank.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy if you like numbers.

  • Features: Up to 4 windows at once, and a death log showing your last hits taken.
  • Watch out: The percent column and some breakdowns appear only after combat ends. It saves your settings from version 1.4.0, because the beta did not.

21. Details!

Why use it: It gives you the familiar damage meter windows from other WoW versions.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy if you like the old layout.

  • Forever version: Yes.
  • Watch out: The built-in meter already covers most players, so skip this if you only want simple numbers.

22. Deadly Boss Mods

Why use it: It shows boss timers and warnings in dungeons and raids. BigWigs does the same job, so pick one, not both.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy once you raid. The first raids open December 9.

  • Forever version: Yes, for the core.
  • Watch out: A working core does not mean every new Forever boss has a module yet. Check coverage for the fight you plan to run.

23. ForeverAuras

Why use it: It is a community fork of WeakAuras for Forever. You get custom icons for buffs, debuffs and cooldowns.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A nice extra.

  • Command: /fa opens the setup.
  • Watch out: Standard WeakAuras has no official Forever version. Old imports may not work, because the new combat limits block some triggers. A second community port named Musca Auras also exists.

24. Manners

Why use it: It shows a one-click prompt to cast a buff on nearby players, or to thank someone who buffed you.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A friendly extra.

  • Watch out: Prompts can be noisy in a crowded city. Limit them to your group.

25. Forever Combat Text

Why use it: It moves floating damage numbers next to the enemy nameplate instead of the middle of your screen.

Rating: 2 out of 5. A visual choice.

  • Watch out: The numbers can include other players’ damage, and it cannot promise full coverage of damage over time or healing. Do not use it as a meter.

26. Leatrix Plus

Why use it: A bundle of small comforts: faster quest handling, junk selling, auto repair and interface tweaks. You switch on only what you want.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick.

  • Command: /ltp opens it.
  • Forever version: Yes, with a few options missing.
  • Watch out: Many options ask for a /reload. Turn off duplicate features if you use another utility pack.

27. EllesmereUI

Why use it: A full interface makeover for action bars, unit frames, nameplates and cast bars, set up in one package.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy if you care about your whole screen.

  • Best for: Long healing, tanking or PvP sessions.
  • Watch out: Forever already has Edit Mode. Do not run two full UI replacements together.

28. ClassicUI Forever

Why use it: It brings back old-style frames for a retro look.

Rating: 2 out of 5. Pure style.

  • Watch out: It is still an early version (0.6.1), so expect rough edges.

29. OPie

Why use it: It puts spells, items and actions in a radial menu you open with a key. Good for hearthstones, mounts and food.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy for clean bars.

  • Watch out: Keep your main combat buttons on normal keybinds. A ring does not skip cooldowns or restrictions.

30. Baganator

Why use it: It combines your bags into one searchable window, with category views, and shows items your other characters carry.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy during leveling.

  • Needs: Syndicator. The CurseForge app can install it for you.
  • Watch out: Forever already has a combine-bags option. Another bag addon, Bagnon, does a similar job. Use one.

PART 6: GOLD AND PLANNING

31. Auctionator

Why use it: It adds price checks, shopping lists and faster posting at the auction house. It shows you when a drop is worth more than vendor price.

Rating: 4 out of 5. A great pick if you gather or craft.

  • Best for: Anyone who sells herbs, ore or crafted items.
  • Watch out: Prices move fast around launch. A tooltip price is not a guaranteed sale.

32. Talents Forever

Why use it: Forever reworks the talent trees for all nine classes. This addon lets you plan a build in the game before you spend a single point, preview it at different levels, and follow the plan as you level.

Rating: 3 out of 5. Handy, especially for your first character.

  • Command: /tf opens it.
  • Best for: Players who like to look ahead, compare paths and share builds by link.
  • Watch out: Talents change often between builds. Recheck a shared build against the live trees.

How to Install Forever Addons

  1. Open the CurseForge or Wago app and choose WoW Forever as the game version. The app finds the folder for you.
  2. Pick the file marked Forever (version 1.60.1). A plain Retail or Classic file is not enough.
  3. For a manual install, unzip the addon into the AddOns folder of your Forever install. In Battle.net, click the gear next to Play, choose Show in Explorer, and open the forever folder.
  4. Install any listed dependency, such as Syndicator.
  5. Restart the game. At the character screen, open AddOns and make sure each one is ticked.
  6. Tick Load out of date AddOns only for files you trust.

Tip: Keep all addons in one app, so two apps do not fight over the same folder.

Tip: Add addons in batches of three to five. A long list makes problems hard to find.

If Something Breaks

  • Addon missing: Check you used the Forever file and the right folder. Make sure the file is not buried inside an extra folder.
  • Settings reset: In the beta, addon settings did not save between sessions. If yours vanish, this is likely the cause. Recheck after launch.
  • Error after a patch: Update the addon first, then change settings.
  • UI looks broken: Turn off the newest addon first.
  • Still stuck: Remove every addon and play without them. The game works fine on its own.

Stay Safe

  • Download only from CurseForge, Wago or the author’s GitHub page.
  • Avoid anything that promises hidden data or one-button play. Forever’s limits block that, so the claim is a warning sign.
  • Do not run two boss mods, two full UI packs or two bag addons together.

A Simple Way to Start

Play your first few levels with no addons. Notice what bugs you, then add one thing that fixes it. If you love story, try Spoken. If you keep getting lost, try Questie. Anything else can wait until you actually want it.
